Maria Mercurial - Maria's modificaitons include an interface that ran her datajack through the limbic region, the pleasure/pain centre of the brian. Using the jack provides stimulus to the brain centres. Maria has tremendous control over the singals involved in sythlinking, and this was a major factor in her therapy to kick the dreamchip addiction. In most cases, using the datajack produces random pleasure or pain stimuli, depending on the signals she is passing through the jack. Ms. Kenner points out that only sum-sucking drek would inflict this kind of modification on somoene. However, the surgery is so complex that trying to undo it could produce serious damage. In additional, Maria refuses to consider anything that would affect her ability to perform.

Maria's responses during the therapy indicated that she had been addicted to a custom chip, one tuned to her specific psychological and neurological profile. That is an expensive process, not something a poor protitute working in a Barren dive could afford. When Hernandez found her, Maria was jacking large quantities of "average" street chips to try to assuage her need for the custom stuff.

Ms. Kenner is still Maria's therapist. God knowns the poor woman needs one! She will not discuss her patient's current status unless convinced that it is in her interest to do so. If she is persuaded, she will tell them of the persona profile of Maria's three persona.

She can also verify the BTL carried by the Yakuza tragetting Maria is one of the specialty custom chips tuned to her.
