A secret craft is a special set of abilities where you call upon a specific Immortals to aid you in a quest to their benefit. This is an expansion of the rules in the Secret Craft Overview, using them cause Soul Burn, though where gaining renown once you have initiated also gains you a new spell to learn in your spellbook or ritual book. Renown in needed for you to be able to progress to the next circle, also needing the character to have at least 5 character levels (rounded up) per circle they want to advance to. Downtime for Secret Crafts and Downtime for Spellcasters covers these various activities.

Secret Craft Overview
They are known as a Spiritologist in the library of the Great School of Magic in Glantri. They started out (and can still be found) as the Spirit Masters or Shaman of Atruaghin, Ethengar and Traladaran. This is an expansion of the Secret Crafts inspired by Gazetteer 3.
This secret craft was developed by those who have a deep connection with their ancestors and seek guidance from those who came before. These are abilities granted by the grace of the patrons who seek the elimination of undead as a threat to civilisation and have a strong connection with their spirit guides and ancestors.
Source Material - This secret craft was built from material gained from various editions of the game. Encyclopaedia Divine – Shamans (Call of the Wild – MGP1006), Encyclopaedia Arcane – Conjuration (By Bell Book and Candle – MGP1016).
Secret Crafts - Crit Effects of the Shaman - Mystara
- Spiritologist Mishap - In addition to the critical failure effect your mind is wracked with pain. You age increased by the circle of the effect you tried to achieve. You can't access any of this crafts features until you take a long rest. Spirits react poorly towards you, you have disadvantage on checks relating to spirits until the end of the next full moon.
- Spiritologist Boon - In addition to the base critical success effect your mind is bolstered by the power of the immortal and you feel invigorated by the effect. You age decreases by the circle of the effect you tried to achieve, to the minimum of adult. (If already an adult gain a +1 Wisdom Mod untill the next full moon ends). Until you have a long rest, you can add your inspiration dice to all craft checks for this craft. Spirits react positively towards you, you have advantage on checks relating to spirits until the end of the next full moon.

Secret Crafts - Initiate Shaman - Tier 1 - Mystara
Initiation - To become an initiate, one must be a hero of either the Atruaghin (Shaman) or Ethengar Clans (Spirit Masters) or a member in good standing of the Church of Traldara (Spiritualist). You can also catch the interest of the Spiritologists of the Great School of Magic.
- Secret Craft - Spiritologist - Initiate
- Craft Bonus - Profiency + Attr Mod + Circle + 2 (for )
- Craft DC - 8 + Craft Bonus.
- Bonus Languages - Choose between Celestial, Atruaghin, Ethengarian or Traladaran. If you already know all these, you can learn a new language.
- Associated Sphere - Entropy and Matter. Usually from the Atruaghin, Ethengarian pantheons, but any immortal who is a patron of Life or Death is also valid.
- Artefacts with the Afterlife - You can use an item marked with the afterlife to reduce the cost by the rarity of the item. Common (-1), Uncommon (-2), Rare (-3), Very Rare (-4), Legendary (-5). You must be attuned to the item, and using it in this way will deactivate the item for a day, and you can't use that attument slot for another item until you complete a long rest. An artifact with Entropy or Matter, can spent power points to reduce the cost of this craft.
- Expanded Magic Characters add the spell from this secret craft to their class spell list for spells that they can learn. A prepared caster adds those they learn as spells in their spellbook, a spontaneous caster can swap out the spells with their known spells during craft downtime. Each tier with this craft earns you one spell. Non-spellcasters can learn a cantrip with each tier, each new cantrip replaces the previous one as if you were a spontaneous spellcaster.
- Initiate Powers - Learn one of the initiate powers choosing from the following: Sense and one sense ability you can use with it from this craft. Word of Power and one word you can use with it from this craft.
- Guadian Spirit - Select Guardian Spirit. A Atruaghin character
will have access to three, personal, tribe and clan spirits.

Secret Crafts - 1st Circle Apprentice Shaman - Tier 2 - Mystara
- Secret Craft - Spiritologist - 1st Circle
- Manifestation - Spiritologist Apprentice (SB 1 DC 16) - When you activate this manifestation, you radiate light 5ft radius. Your spiritual guardian appears and either provides you with trained proficiency in their chosen field, or their base ability.
- Enhancement - Rites of Warding (SB 1 DC 16) - When you activate this enhancement, you upgrade your manifestation to include as a standard action a field of protection. Your manifestation aura also acts as a Protection from Evil and Good, except it only works against spirits and other undead.
- Enhancement - Spell Infusion (SB 1 DC 16) You gain a known or prepared spell from the list of spells in this craft for each level you can cast. If you know more than one craft you can only have this available for one. Repeat activations changes the these slots to the activating craft. This loss is permanent while you have access to these spells. Each spell obtained this way causes 1 SB. Replacing the spells known does not incure an aditional cost. Can be done during a short rest.
- Enhancement - Spitie Bane (SB 1 DC 16) - When you activate this enhancement, you upgrade your manifestation to include as a standard action an upgrade to weapon in your manifesation. Your manifestation aura now provides ghost touch to all attack originating from your aurua of effect.
- Power - Question the Guardian Spirite (SB 1 DC 16) - As a standard action, you can ask one question of your guardian spirit, they will respond based on their interactions with you.
- Power - Sense Spirite (SB 1 DC 16) - As a bonus action, you can activate this power to sense all spirits within 60 ft, also granting you advantage on any attack rolls or saving throws checks relating to spirits you sense. The power requires concentration (10 minute) to keep active.
- Secret Craft - Spiritologist - 1st Circle Rituals
- Downtime Ritual - Spirit Lodge - Over a weeks downtime, a shaman can create a spirit lodge to use their abilities in at the cost of 5,000 gp per circle they have obtained. When using their abilities in a spirit lodge, they receive an inspiration dice to the craft check, and never suffer the effects of the critical failure.
- Downtime Ritual - Spiritual Guidance of Self (DC 16) - By using this downtime activity and spending a week in communion in your spirit lodge, the spirits can provide a worthy candidate with a quest to benefit the target of the ritual. While this quest is still achievable and has not been completed, the target cannot request another quest from the spirits.
- Downtime Ritual - Spiritual Avatar (SB 1 DC 16) - Spending a week you can bond your guardian spirit with a living creature. Taking a Familiar, Mount, Companion or Follower and expending 100 gp per level worth of materials and they then have the power as part of them. If you do not have the Familiar, Mount of Companion class feature, you gain it and take an additional 1 Soul Burn per level while you retain them as a feature. While bonded, the creature reduces the cost of your craft abilties by your circle rank in the craft. They can also be used as the centre of your manifestation.
- Downtime Ritual - Rite of Rest (SB 1 DC 16) - Sending an hour, you can provide a service that sends a spirit of the departed onto their final judgement. It requires you to have their remains, an item of significance and their story as components of the ritual. If they are not ready to go, or have become undead, then the ritual calls them forth and you can battle them to send them to their eternal rest as planned.

- Enhancement - Spiritologist Journeyman (SB 2 DC 18) - When you activate this enhancement, you upgrade your manifestation to include as a standard action to upgrade, your spiritual guardian provides you with expertise in their chosen field, or their base ability increases. The aura of the manifestation increases by 5ft.
- Enhancement - Shroud from Spirits (SB 2 DC 18) - When you activate this enhancement, you upgrade your manifestation to include as a standard action to upgrade, your spiritual guardian provides you with invisbility to undead.
- Power - Voice of Knowledge (SB 2 DC 18) - As a standard action, you can ask your guardian spirit a question and gain a truthful answer from their perspective.
- Power - Voice of Remembrance (SB 2 DC 18) - As a standard action, you can speak to your guardian spirit who can recall knowledge of events that happended up to one year per character level in the past. They either known the answers themselves or seek them out from those who have died in the area. You can ask them questions equal to your Attribute modifier plus circles in spiritologist, as long as each question is asked once the previous answer has been given.
- Secret Craft - Spiritologist - 2nd Circle Rituals
- Downtime Ritual - Rites of Summoning (SB 2+) - For each week spent in the ritual while inside your spirit lodge, you can summon a manifestation of your spiritual guardian who will grant you a service you for each day spent and will cost you 2 SB per service. These services can be knowledge, guidance, defence or another based on your negotiation skills with your guardian spirit, if you spirit guardian is slain during its serice to you it will be unavailable for at least one year from the time it was slain, or require a quest to release or recover it.
- Downtime Ritual - Spiritual Guidance of Hearth (DC 18) - By using this downtime activity and spending two weeks in communion in your spirit lodge, the spirits can provide a worthy candidate with a quest to benefit the target of the rituals family. While this quest is still achievable and has not been completed, the target cannot request another quest from the spirits.
Secret Crafts - 3rd Circle Adept Shaman - Tier 4 - Mystara

- Enhancement - Spiritologist Adept (SB 3 DC 20) - When you activate this enhancement, you upgrade your manifestation to include as a standard action to upgrade, your spiritual guardian provides you with advantage in their chosen field, or their base ability increases. The aura of the manifestation increases by 5ft.
- Power - Voices of the Past (SB 3 DC 20) - As a standard action, you can speak to your guardian spirit who can recall knowledge of events that happended up to ten years per character level in the past. They either known the answers themselves or seek them out from those who have died in the area. You can ask them questions equal to your Attribute modifier plus circles in spiritologist, as long as each question is asked once the previous answer has been given.
- Secret Craft - Spiritologist - 3rd Circle Rituals
- Downtime Ritual - Rites of Exorcism (SB 3) - Spending a week in communion with your spiriual guardians, you can expel evil spirits from an area. To expel evil spirits from a building, all the rooms need to be done, to expel from a community of huts or yurts, then each hut or yurt in the community needs to be cleansed. Missing one means the spirits have a place to retreat to and return.
- Downtime Ritual - Spiritual Guidance of Home (DC 20) - By using this downtime activity and spending three weeks in communion in your spirit lodge, the spirits can provide a worthy candidate with a quest to benefit the target of the rituals tribe. While this quest is still achievable and has not been completed, the target cannot request another quest from the spirits.

- Enhancement - Spiritologist Master (SB 4 DC 22) - When you activate this enhancement, you upgrade your manifestation to include as a standard action to upgrade, your spiritual guardian provides you with inspiration in their chosen field, or their base ability increases. The aura of the manifestation increases by 5ft.
- Power - Siritual Intervention (SB 4 DC 22) - As a reaction, you can channel your guardian spirit to upgrade a result of a check just make, or downgrade a check. This can be one you have made yourself or someone else within the radius of your manifestation.
- Power - Voices of the Ancestors (SB 4 DC 22) - As a standard action, you can speak to your guardian spirit who can recall knowledge of events that happended up to one hundred years per character level in the past. They either known the answers themselves or seek them out from those who have died in the area. You can ask them questions equal to your Attribute modifier plus circles in spiritologist, as long as each question is asked once the previous answer has been given.
- Secret Craft - Spiritologist - 4th Circle Rituals
- Downtime Ritual - Rite of Awakening - By using this downtime activity and spending a week in communion in your spirit guardians, you can breath sentience into an object or animal. You can ask them questions equal to your Attribute modifier plus circles in spiritologist, as long as each question is asked once the previous answer has been given. If you choose, you can spend 4 SB to make the sentience perminant while you maintain the lost SB. If you maintain it for a year an a day, it becomes permanant and you regain your expended SB.
- Downtime Ritual - Spiritual Guidance of Community (DC 22) - By using this downtime activity and spending four weeks in communion in your spirit lodge, the spirits can provide a worthy candidate with a quest to benefit the target of the rituals clan. While this quest is still achievable and has not been completed, the target cannot request another quest from the spirits.
Secret Crafts - 5th Circle Grand Master Shaman - Tier 6 - Mystara

- Enhancement - Spiritologist Grand Master (SB 5 DC 24) - When you activate this enhancement, you upgrade your manifestation to include as a standard action to upgrade, your spiritual guardian provides you with an upgraded result in their chosen field, or their base ability increases. The aura of the manifestation increases by 5ft.
- Power - Voices of the Dead (SB 5 DC 24) - As a standard action, you can speak to your guardian spirit who can compell undead in line of sight to answer your questions. They must make a Charisma saving throw vs your craft DC or answer all questions truthfully, if they succeed, they still have to answer, but may deceive instead. You can ask them questions equal to your Attribute modifier plus circles in spiritologist, as long as each question is asked once the previous answer has been given.
- Power - Voices of the Forgotten (SB 5 DC 24) - As a standard action, you can speak to your guardian spirit who can recall knowledge of events that happended up to one thousand years per character level in the past. They either known the answers themselves or seek them out from those who have died in the area. You can ask them questions equal to your Attribute modifier plus circles in spiritologist, as long as each question is asked once the previous answer has been given. Beware what questions you ask, for such knowledge may come at a terrible price.

- Downtime Ritual - Rite of Possession (DC 24) - By spending a week in your Spirit Lodge, you can call into a target, a spirit to provide you its knowledge, skills or abilities.
- Downtime Ritual - Rite of Spiritual Travel (DC 24) - By spending a week in your Spirit Lodge, you can view into other planes of existence, or areas of your own world in spirit form but can’t physically interact with anything there. You can communicate and be affected as if you were a ghost.
- Downtime Ritual - Spiritual Guidance of the Atruaghin (DC 24) - By using this downtime activity and spending five weeks in communion in your spirit lodge, the spirits can provide a worthy candidate with a quest to benefit all the clans of the target's people. While this quest is still achievable and has not been completed, the target cannot request another quest from the spirits.
