Mystara of the Five Spheres D&D Downtime Items - Finding

USES ONE OF THE DOWNTIME ACTIVITIES FOR THE DURATION

This downtime activity is for characters wishing to purchase magical items in a settlement. The characters must spend at least a week in the settlement tracking down someone who has items they are willing to sell. This is to find items that are not part of the magic shop found in most locations. Scrounging the settlement for different items has no guarantee that what you are looking for is available. The character must succeed on a renown check to begin this downtime activity.

The expenses for the week include a wealthy lifestyle for the character, and you are dealing with the wealthy members of the settlement. A item formula costs the next level up, and non-magical items have a multiplier based on 1/10 of the gp price.

Check - To make the check to find an item, the character must spend at least 10 gp and a week looking for magical items. A character can spend an additional week, at the weekly cost to increase their chances of finding an item they are looking for by +1 for every extra week up to a +5.

At the end of the period you make a skill check usually a Charisma (Persuasion) with the extra week bonus and the settlement modifier that determines the type and quanities of items available. A natural 1 mean there are no items available and you have a complication. A natural 20 means the item is available right away. You can choose to upgrade to the next level on the chart if you also take a complication. Item is available 1d12 weeks after the check plus and extra time due to a complication.

For the check you can choose any of the skills you can convince the GM is appropiate for the check.

Event breakdown

• Note - Can't be done while travelling
• Base Check DC = 10 + 2x level of magical item with common being 1, uncommon being 2, rare being 3, very rare being 5, legendary being 5 and artefact being 6.
• Note - Item must fall inside the cost limits for the settlement, this makes high level magical items not available to be requested without a quest or interaction.

• 1 week (additional weeks adds +1 to the roll)
• Cost per Week (What you need to make the check in session)
• 35 gp multiplied by the size of the settlement over none.
• Check (What you need to make the check in session, between sessions the d20 in the check is replaced by 10)
• Skill Check = d20 + skill bonus + Settlment Modifier + Lifestyle Modifier + Renown

At the end of the period you make a Charisma (Persuasion) check with the extra week bonus and the settlement modifier that determines the level of items available. A natural 1 increases the time and cost by an additional week without the bonus to the roll. A natural 20 haves the cost of the check. You can choose to upgrade to the next level on the chart if you also take a complication.

less than DC – 1d6 randoms items of the chosed rarity available

Equal to DC – 1d6 random items of the chosen rarity and type

Equal to DC +5 – 1d6 random variations of the specific item

Equal to DC +10 – a new version of the specific item with no legacy

Complications - Something interesting has happened and you get to roll on the complications table below. For every point you add to your roll, you increase the costs as if you spent a number of weeks equal to the difference to succeed. This also delays access to the item or knowledge of the items location for the same number of weeks.
