Mystara of the Five Spheres D&D Downtime Event of Work (Practicing a Profession)

USES ONE OF THE DOWNTIME ACTIVITIES FOR THE DURATION

Downtime activity for basic work between adventures, allowing you to maintain a for lifestyle for the week. This benefit lasts as long you continue to prActive your profession. If you are a member of an organisation that can provide gainful employment, such as a temple or a thieves’ guild, you have advantage on the check. If you have proficiency in the Performance skill and put your performance skill to use during your downtime, you earn enough to support a lifestyle one better than rolled instead.

Check - You spend a number of weeks of downtime and make an ability or tool check for that time. Instead of accepting a result less than modest you can take a complication instead.

For the check you can choose any of the skills you can convince the GM is appropiate for the check.

Event breakdown
• Requirements (What you need to make the check in session)
• Note - Can't be done while travelling
• Base Check DC = 15 + modfied by twice the lifestyle bonus.
• Note - You must be qualified for the work level your attempting, unskilled cannot go above modest, and Aristocratice and above requires titles.
• Time (What you need to make the check in session)
• 1 week (additional weeks adds +1 to the roll)
• Cost per Week (What you need to make the check in session)
• None, though a failed roll may cause you to have to spend some or all of the lifestyle costs.
• Check (What you need to make the check in session, between sessions the d20 in the check is replaced by 10)
• Ability Check = d20 + ability bonus + Settlement Modifier + Lifestyle Modifier + Renown
• Skill Check = d20 + skill bonus + Settlement Modifier + Lifestyle Modifier + Renown
• Tool Check = d20 + tool bonus + Settlement Modifier + Lifestyle Modifier + Renown
• Vehicle Check = d20 + vehicle bonus + Settlement Modifier + Lifestyle Modifier + Renown

Check Result
• Fails the DC by 10 or more – You have to pay the costs of the lifestyle in full, but gain no benefit for it if doing more than one task in the week.
• Fails the DC by 5 or more – You have to pay for half the cost of the lifestyle for no benefit, or pay the full cost to be able to use it for other activities.
• Fails to reach DC – You don't gain any benefit from this lifestyle, or pay half the cpst to be able to use it for other activities.
• Exceeds the DC – Character gains the benefit of having the lifestyle without having to pay for it, and can use it with other activities.
• Exceeds the DC by 5 or more – Character makes a profit, gaining the cost of the lifestyle as extra money, while graining the benefit of the lifestyle.
• Exceeds the DC by 10 or more – Character makes a profit, gaining twice the cost of the lifestyle as extra money, while graining the benefit of the lifestyle.

Complications - For point you increase your check by, you lose a day's worth of income, and roll on the complications table.

5. Your employer’s financial difficulties result in your not being paid *
6. A difficult customer or a fight with a co-worker reduces the wages you earn by one category *.

• Critical Success – Gain the next level on the check table

TABLE OF WAGES - Check / Earnings
• Less than DC – Made no money for the week and need to pay the lifestyle
• Equal to the DC – Free lifestyle , earning for the week equal the daily costs of the lifestyle (i.e. 1 cp for squalid)
• For each +5 over target DC – Earn an extra coin for the week
